Expectations And Satisfaction When Using Professional Packing Services

The job of packing items for a move, or relocation is a daunting task for most people. Professional packers and movers however, make the job look easy. These professionals use years of experience to carefully package items in boxes utilizing as little storage space as possible, while keeping all items safe and intact for transport. They are also adept at considering the unique needs of each client for whom they prepare moving boxes and packages.

Whether it is born out of a sense of traditional work ethics, or a general ignorance about professional moving services, many people have questions about how packing services operate. These are some of the most common concerns expressed by people presented with the opportunity to utilize the skills of a professional packing and moving service.

What is Involved in Professional Packing Services?

Laymen tend to tackle packing jobs in an unorganized and inefficient manner. They will start with one room, and experience extreme fatigue and dismay with every added task. Professional packers arrive at a household with one overriding goal. That goal is to preserve the integrity of a home and its contents through every phase of the moving process.

Packaging crews will tackle the job of moving an entire home with precision. They will arrive with all needed materials like cheap moving boxes, tape, stuffing material, and a host of transport aids. The crews will normally divide into teams that tackle each room simultaneously. This minimizes working man hours, and helps clients keep on schedule with their move. A professional packing crew is fully capable of addressing a normal home in a single day, and can easily prepare up to several hundred average size cartons.

Do Items Get Damaged During The Moving Process?

The potential for items being damaged always exists during a move. Damage potential is reduced greatly however, when a professional packing service is employed. These crews take every precaution when packing delicate items. This includes using wraps in boxes and cartons that reduce shifting in transport, and padded cartons when the need arises.

Professional Packing Efficiency

People who employ professional moving services are almost always impressed by how fast the job gets done. This is due to the difference in how experienced crews tackle a job compared to a home owner. Property owners tend to involve emotional elements when packing. This slows down the process. Professional moving companies and packers tackle a job without added emotional tension. This facilitates an efficient and speedy level of performance.

Job Completion

Professional packers always try to prepare a move in a way that is acceptable to the client. They will endeavor to maximize space, ensure item safety, and address all items needing attention. Crews will not make judgments about items being waste, or keepsakes. It is the responsibility of the property owner to direct crews regarding which items are to be packed, and which items are to be ignored.

Ensuring Packing Job Satisfaction

A moving consultant is always a valuable resource in guaranteeing that a professional packaging job is done properly. Consultants can assist people with special concerns regarding their move. These concerns include everything from finding cheap moving boxes for cutting expenses, to knowing what to do with hazardous items like cleaning chemicals, paints, and medical supplies. Consultants can also provide tips on packing organization that speeds up the moving process.

Professional packing and moving service companies always appreciate when a client is open and candid about the job. Leaving nothing to guesswork is the surest way to experience a packing job that is devoid of incidents, and makes a move less stressful.

The packaging industry is constantly evolving. The days of the square shipping boxes wrapped in plain brown paper are gone. Today’s products come wrapped in a variety type of packaging materials with beautiful creative designs. This article lists the best beauty packaging trends for 2017.

Labels Made Simple

Labels typically contain the product’s ingredients, but too much information printed on the label can be confusing. If you print the ingredients on the label keep the number to a minimum. Your product will stand out from the crowd.

Product Instructions

With beauty products, there is often a specific routine to follow. Using the products in the wrong order will produce an adverse effect for the user. The product’s packaging should indicate which product should be used first.

Multi-Product Packaging

For convenience, beauty products and the products’ applicator are often sold together. Items that are sold together should also be packaged together. The packaging should be the type that makes the items look like they belong together.

Packaging That Stimulates the Senses

Customers recognize products by the packaging and anticipate the package’s contents. Certain emotional responses come along with this anticipation. A positive experience produced by the product will translate to a positive feeling about the packaging that will be duplicated the next time the customer sees the package.

Customized Product Packaging

DIY packaging and shipping boxes are very popular. Customers want to have a choice in their product selection and the way the product will be packaged. Customers can create packaging that fits the circumstances under which the purchase is being made, such as a holiday, birthday, or wedding gift.

Vary the Shape and Pattern of the Package

Cosmetic products are packed in various sizes and shapes of bottles, tubes, and boxes. These items are not always the standard size and shape. There is packaging material to match every type and size of container.

Multi-Purpose Boxes

Products on the today’s market may serve more than one function. It will be advantageous for the customer to know all of the different uses of the product. The product’s packaging should inform the customer of the product’s versatility so they can make an informed choice.

Environmental Impact

Many people are concerned about the environment. The manner in which the packaging is disposed of once the product is gone and how it will affect the environment is an important consideration. The packaging should not be disposed of in a manner that will be harmful to any animals or the environment.

Skin Type Product Match

Different types of cosmetic products are suitable for different types of skin tones. The differences in the product’s application regarding skin tones should be communicated to the customer on the outside of the packaging. This can be written on the package or indicated by a different color or shape of the package.

Individually Packaged Products

Some products are designed to be used only once before disposing of them. These products cannot be reused once they are open. These types of products can be packaged individually to make sure an entire container is not wasted because they were all opened at once.

These practical suggestions concerning the type of packaging to use should be considered to increase the possibility of customers choosing your product.

Packing Cakes The Right Way

A cake is always a brilliant present to give to someone because let’s face it, who doesn’t like cake? But when it comes to sending someone some love in the form of a cake, shipping it can be pretty hard, and you the person may not always end up receiving the same thing that you sent. Cake’s are perishable items and therefore need to be packaged right to ensure that they don’t get spoilt in transit. Moreover, they must be packaged well to ensure that they don’t get smashed on their way to the recipient.

#1 Prepping The Cake
There are a few things that one must first keep in mind before they send out a cake as a package or as a birthday present. For starters, using a soft icing or whipped cream for the cake is not advisable. Soft icing is more prone to damage since it tends to be more delicate. Over that, they melt much faster than normal hard icing, which doesn’t melt during transit. Fresh fruit cakes may be the preferred kind for some, but the long hours that the cake might spend on the way to the destination may cause the fruit to lose its freshness, deteriorating the overall taste of the cake. When shipping, chocolate, vanilla and other kinds of essence cakes are ideal since they don’t spoil as quickly.

#2 Freeze Before
One tip that bakers and pastry chefs stand by is freezing the cake before serving. This is mainly done so that the cake retains its shape and doesn’t fall apart. The same can be done when shipping a cake. Just before the day, you plan to send the cake, freeze it overnight. This will help the cake retain its desired shape, and it will help the icing to harden, making it a non messy shipment.

#3 Packaging
On the day of shipping the package, take the cake out of the freezer and cover it with plastic wrap. After you do that, cover the entire cake with aluminum foil. This will help the cake stay cool on its journey, retaining its freshness, preventing the cake from getting spoilt and the icing from melting.

Next, you will need to prep a little hand for this. You will need to buy shipping boxes and fill it with gel packets and styrofoam packaging peanuts. You can also refrigerate the gel bags before throwing them in so that your cake stays cool throughout the ride. If you want your cake to be in the absolute perfect condition when it reaches your destination, place it in styrofoam cooler shipping boxes.

#4 Sealing it Away
After the box has been packed, tape the box closed with super sturdy tape. Be sure that the tape isn’t one that can come off quickly. Get a sticker that says “This side up” and “Fragile.” People often forget that these handy labels are the main things that make delivery company’s vary of delicate goods, leading them to take extra care of them.

#5 Choosing A Delivery
When sending a cake, one of the most important things is to ensure that you pick a delivery service that is fast, and one which will take care of your package as intended to. Choosing overnight or one-day delivery packages are the best way to ensure that your cake reaches the recipient in good condition, still as fresh as it was when it came out of the oven.

3 Moving Scams To Watch Out For

Moving is already a difficult task, and it doesn’t need to be made more difficult by unethical people or companies trying to come along and take advantage of you. Yet, sadly, it happens. In order to protect yourself from these scams, it’s important to become aware of them, and follow a few tips in order to avoid being taken it by these “lowlifes”.

First let’s familiarize you with 3 common moving scams people try to get away with. The first is A Change In Charges. If you’re being offered a sweetheart of a deal, beware. A lot of times these movers will try to lure you in with a insanely low estimate, only later to turn around and double or triple charges after your shipping boxes are loaded and in their possession. They then will hold your things “hostage” until you pay their new bill.

The second scam is Invented Charges. This is when new clauses are added to the contract after you’ve already agreed to the terms. These clauses could include new driver fees, or for extra time required, or a number of any other things. Anytime this occurs, when  things are added into your contract, after you’ve already agreed to the original terms, you’re probably dealing with a scam.

The third scam is The Bait and Switch. This is when the original estimate is based on one measurement or inventory of your belongings, but when the bill actually arrives you’re informed that your shipping boxes and other goods somehow exceed the original estimate. Even though, it was never part of the original estimate. Again, your belongings are help, until you agree to pay the new terms.

So, now the question is how do you protect yourself from these scams? Well, here are four tips that can help.

  1. Don’t Sign a partial or “skinny” contract

Never sign a blank or incomplete contract with assurance that they’ll “fill out the details later”. Everything should be spelled our ahead of time. From the guaranteed price, to the delivery date, to the necessary supplies needed on your end, to a complete list of your shipping list, no stone should be left unturned nor should there be any questions in the contract.

  1. Never put your furniture in an unmarked truck

If the moving company is on the up and up, they’ll have their trucks clearly marked. Their paperwork will have the company logo, and the movers themselves will either be in uniform or can clearly identify with the company you hired. Every part of your move should be traceable, including the truck.

  1. Don’t pay cash

In fact, the only cash that should ever exchange hands during your moving process is when you tip the movers. Otherwise you have no way to track or prove if you’ve paid. When you pay cash, you increase the risk of your items of being held “hostage” or disappearing altogether.

  1. Do your background research

As basic and simple as this seems, this step is incredibly important. It’s here where you can read reviews, find actual physical locations, and find a truly reputable moving company. Make sure as you search, they are recognized online, have positive reviews, and are in good standing.

Bad things happen to the best of us. But by taking these precautions and becoming aware of the scams out there, you can protect you, your family, and your shipping boxes from falling victim to yet another scam.

How to Ship Edible Gifts During the Holidays

I don’t know about you, but giving gifts around the holidays is one of my favorite things in the entire world.  I love packing up a shoebox to be sent to some underprivileged child in a foreign country.  It’s so fun trying to find miniature things that can offer on-going fun or functionality.  I love buying Angel Tree gifts that will be given to little ones who have an incarcerated parent.  And, of course, I love getting gifts for my friends and family!  Technically, I shop for Christmas all year long, keeping my eye out for awesome deals.  A lot of times, though, I don’t even buy the gifts that I hand out personally… I make them!

I get into this kick where I have a great idea and then produce that idea in mass quantities for everyone I know.  Like one year I made blueberry syrup from blueberries that we handpicked.  One year I made everyone this craft out of picture frames.  The last couple of years I’ve been experimenting with giving homemade candy, which has had the very best results.  So this year I made candy boxes.  You know those candy boxes you can buy around Valentine’s Day, that are shaped like a heart and full of truffles?  So that’s the basic idea, except I personalize the actual boxes and fill them with actual home-made candy.

So then the question that begs to be asked is, “How do I ship these during the holiday season?”  Here is what I found out:

  • Ship early in the week so that the gift/candy isn’t sitting around over the weekend
  • Choose the right sized box. The right sized box needs to have a couple inches available on all sides of the item, because the item is going to be wrapped in something like bubble wrap.
  • In the case of my candy boxes, I wrapped them securely in bubble wrap and then wrapped the bubble wrap with packaging tape to make sure that there wasn’t going to be any breaking open or serious shifting in the box. I would not recommend packing peanuts or any other kind of “moveable” cushion, or else your gift will move around in transit and show up in a state of disarray.
  • Make sure that there is no empty space at the top of the box. This you can fill with newspaper or more bubble wrap, so that the box doesn’t cave in when it’s being handled.
  • Look around to find out who has the best rate for parcel post with the fastest shipping time. This is up for grabs during the holiday season!

A Short Discussion About Wedding Favors

Planning for your wedding is an enormous task.  People spend years putting together color schemes, flower arrangements, dress designs, table layouts, reception favors, venue decorations, menu planning, cake creating, and on and on the list goes…  Some people knock this out in a few months and do their best to save money.  Some people want to extend the engagement so they can make sure that every single detail is absolutely perfect.  If you are taking either route, there are still some pretty fabulous tips out there to help you wind up with the best day ever.

What’s one aspect of a wedding that always falls flat?  Or, rather, that seems to be underappreciated?  The favors.  I mean, if we’re all being honest here, how many weddings have you gone to where you actually made to sure to take your favor home?  There have only been a couple for me.  One of them was my cousin’s wedding, and she had made some pretty snazzy Christmas tree ornaments (she got married in December) out of hot glue, ribbon, and starfish (she got married in Florida).

I took that one home because I love a good Christmas tree ornament.  Other than that, I can’t really say I was chomping at the bit to take home a candle with the bride and groom’s face on it.  For my own wedding I skipped the favors altogether and set out a printout on each table saying that I had given the money for favors to a charitable organization committed to finding the cure for brain cancer (my mother had just had a brain tumor removed).

That being said, before you consider dropping four and five hundred dollars on personalized shot glasses or sunglasses, or even those little mesh baggies of butter mints, consider offering small candy boxes at each place setting, each one wrapped differently, with cohesive embellishments and colors.  People aren’t even going to wait to open their own individual present, and there are definitely going to be some squeals when the guests discover they’ve unwrapped candy boxes.

Four, or even two, candies per box is all that is necessary.  You can even make the candy for an added touch, or order it from a local confectioner to promote your local businesses.  Either way, I have found that candy boxes as party favors for any occasion are immediately partaken of and appreciated.  So yeah, it’s candy, but that’s the point!  Everyone loves candy!  Not everyone loves beer koozies and another ballpoint pen.

It’s Gift Giving Season!

One of my favorite things about the holidays is giving gifts.  I can’t decide which is my favorite: seeing family and friends that I haven’t seen in a while, eating a lot of amazing food, or giving gifts.  They are all so amazing.  One of my favorite gifts to give are homemade candy boxes full of homemade candy.  They are simply amazing for every occasion, and everyone always appreciates homemade candy.

gift

Recently, I’ve found a lot of really great ideas on the internet to get me thinking outside of the box, if you will:

  • Use unusual materials for gift wrapping. Your kids’ artwork, newspaper, calendar pages, paper bags…
  • Cards are expensive and immediately disposed of (usually). Have your kids make a homemade card, use cardstock to make your own, or keep on hand a stack of blank, multipurpose cards.
  • You don’t always have to give some”thing” as a gift. AKA clutter, AKA why I usually decorate candy boxes and fill them with homemade candy (they are guilt free).  Aside from homemade edibles, gifting an experience is right up there.  Take someone out to lunch.  Take someone to a concert.  Take someone somewhere that you know they love.
  • Keep a bottle of random stuff around for the time when you need an impromptu gift. Those DIY candy boxes take time to put together!  Sometimes I have to reach into the tub labeled “gifts” and pull out that candle from Bath and Body Works, or grab a ten dollar gift card to Chik Fil A.  That’s okay too!
  • One of my absolute favorite gifts is to make a donation in someone’s honor. Every other Christmas my husband I purchase ducks, or a goat, or put money towards a well through charitable organizations like Samaritan’s purse, and that organization will send a card to whomever you are honoring, letting them know.
  • Be sure to provide gift receipts, especially if you are giving a toy or clothes. People tend to be picky and exact about what they want, and it would be better for someone to exchange what you got them than for your money, and gesture, to go completely to waste.
  • When it comes to Christmas shopping, have a set budget and stick to that budget. I start my gift-buying early in the year, especially if I see something on sale that I know someone will like.
  • You don’t have to join the Black Friday rush, and ruin your Thanksgiving, in order to reap the benefits. By the afternoon of Black Friday most of the crowd is gone and all of the sales are still available.  They are usually available for the rest of that weekend, and now there is Cyber Monday, so there is plenty of time to get good deals while still respecting the holiday.
